General Delivery Information
Delivering with Grubhub is a great option for those looking to earn extra cash as they need it! You’re able to earn money with every delivery while on a flexible schedule that fits your needs. Apply today and be your own boss with Grubhub for Drivers!
After a Grubhub customer places an order, delivery partners are able to accept offers in the Grubhub for Drivers app to earn money by picking up and delivering the order. Earnings are based on a combination of delivery pay (impacted by your market, mileage, time, delivery type, and bonuses), Grubhub’s contribution for minimum rates on slower days, and 100% of customer tips from completed orders!
Here are just a few reasons why drivers choose to partner with Grubhub:
- Quick application that takes just a few minutes, on average.
- Flexible scheduling offers the ability to pre-schedule delivery windows, securing time on the road in advance, or Toggle On to become available in real time.
- Deliver with various modes of transportation, such as a car, bike, or scooter.
- Earn competitive pay and keep 100% of your tips from completed orders.
- Easy-to-use app supports positive delivery experience from pick-up to drop-off.
- In-app safety features provide peace of mind on the road.
- Make money on your terms—no passengers, no small talk.

If you need support while on a delivery, or non-delivery related help for things like scheduling, pay, or general questions, you can Tap the “Accounts” section in the Driver App to get the help you need. Based on your needs, you may be taken to a form, to email, or directed to call a number for support from our Driver Care team.
In the event of an emergency, tap the SOS icon in the top right of the app screen to connect with 911, or a live safety agent via phone or chat, directly from the app. Learn more about the Rapid SOS safety partnership.
Grubhub account violations are patterns or behaviors, usually associated with fraud, that negatively impact the merchant or customer. A fraud-free environment protects and empowers Grubhub drivers, and when drivers succeed, the entire Grubhub network succeeds.
Violations can include failing to deliver orders after they’re accepted, falsifying order progress, and more. If a violation occurs, you’ll receive a notification and be able to review and acknowledge the violation in the app. If 3 violations occur, your account will be blocked, and you won’t be able to log in. Violations expire and are removed from your account after 90 days.
For more information about specific behaviors that can lead to an account violation, please visit our help center article here.
Driver Application Support
Thank you for your interest in partnering with us! Download the Driver App from your device app store and apply within the app. Applications take just minutes, after which we’ll complete your mandatory identity verification and background check. Once you’re approved, you’ll be ready to hit the road and start earning in as little as just a day!
Grubhub works to prevent having too many drivers on the road at once in each market in order to foster a positive delivery partner experience. This means that sometimes, we pause accepting new drivers in certain markets to provide our existing delivery partners with the best earning opportunities. You’ll see which markets are waitlisted as you go through your application and, if available, have the opportunity to select a non-waitlisted nearby market if you’d prefer to begin driving sooner! If you apply and are waitlisted, we have your information and will contact you when there’s availability in your market.
Grubhub engages waitlisted applicants on a first come, first served basis, within each market.
If you remain on the waitlist for an extended period after applying, Grubhub will check in to see if you’d like to stay on the waitlist by opting in! Should you opt out or not respond, your application will be removed from the waitlist, and you will need to resubmit your application to become a delivery partner with Grubhub in the future.
Remember, if your market is waitlisted, you can always switch to a nearby open market to continue with background and identity verification so you can start delivering immediately after!
The application to become an approved delivery partner for Grubhub is housed in the Driver App. You can track your progress on the Application Process home screen, which shows which steps you’ve completed and what’s left to do to become an approved partner.
If you have previously partnered with Grubhub but haven’t toggled available in more than 6 months, your account may need to be reactivated in order to regain access to your account in the Driver App.
To reactivate your account, you’ll need to fill out this form.

- Select > Delivery Partners Request Form, then select a topic > I have delivered a Grubhub order > I think my account has been paused or is inactive > I took a break from Grubhub and would like to start delivering again
To expedite the process, include a picture of your current driver’s license, car insurance, and Grubhub Driver Card. If you don’t have a Grubhub Driver Card, you’ll be able to select “lost” or “never received.”
Transferring is easy! Simply complete and submit this form, using your current account’s email address, following the steps to select your new market.
- Use the same email address you previously used to sign into your account.

Use the same email address you used when you applied and select the topic > I have never taken a delivery with Grubhub > Help with my application > Application is on hold, and I want to resume the application process.
There may be a few reasons you’re unable to sign in.
- You’ve never applied to be a Grubhub delivery partner. If this is your first time applying to be a driver at Grubhub, select “Sign up to deliver” on the home screen and follow the onscreen instructions, even if you’re an existing Grubhub customer.
- You’ve previously driven with Grubhub, but not in the past six months. If you’ve previously delivered with Grubhub but have not toggled “Available” in more than four months, your account may need to be reactivated. To learn more about reactivating your Grubhub for Drivers account, please check out our Help Center.
- You received an email that your account has been blocked. If you received an email indicating your account has been blocked, then your account has been suspended due to multiple account violations. Follow the instructions in the email if you’d like to appeal the suspension.
If none of the above apply and you’re still unable to log into your driver account, please submit a request using this form for assistance.
When submitting your request, ensure that you use the same email address you previously used to sign into your account. Either select I have delivered a Grubhub order OR I have never taken a delivery with Grubhub> Login/Connectivity Troubleshooting > Error when logging in to the app.
Getting Started
Once you’re approved to partner with Grubhub, you can start delivering immediately with any insulated delivery bag! Applying takes just minutes, and after your mandatory identity verification and background check is completed and approved, you can start earning in as little as a day!
All delivery partners must be at least 18 years of age with a valid license (21+ in Las Vegas), have a vehicle (car or bike), own an iPhone OR an Android with a data plan on the latest operating system, and have a checking account for direct deposit.
A market boundary, or delivery region, is a group of neighborhoods or towns where Grubhub merchants and customers are located. You’ll want to be in your region’s delivery boundaries when you set your status to Taking Offers. To check your delivery boundaries, locate the Account section in the menu of the Grubhub for Drivers app and select Delivery Region.
Scheduling blocks allows you to create a flexible schedule to earn when you want without interrupting life. It also gives you the opportunity to receive more orders and potentially higher earnings! To sign up for a block, log into the Grubhub for Drivers App and tap on Scheduling in the menu, click Update Schedule, and select a time. Available blocks will appear with a “+” symbol next to them.
Yes! You can toggle on Taking offers to deliver without a scheduled block at any time that your market is open (market dependent).
Driver Payment
Many factors determine how much you can make as a delivery partner. Grubhub delivery pay depends on how often you deliver, what time of day, and what market you deliver in. You can use Grubhub’s block scheduling to reserve time-slots for when you want to deliver, which helps ensure there aren’t too many drivers on the road and that you’ll get deliveries. Delivery partners earn delivery pay + 100% of their tips for every completed order. Plus, you can complete Missions and participate in sweepstakes or other special offers to boost pay.

Instant Cash Out is a feature in the Grubhub for Drivers app that allows you to cash out your available earnings directly into your bank account or bank debit card whenever you want, up to $500/day! This option is free for Chase Bank customers and $0.50 each for other bank customers. For more information on Instant Cash Out, visit our help guide.
Drivers are able to cash out their earnings up to $500 a day using the Instant Cash Out feature. If you prefer direct deposit, you can elect for payments to be sent to your bank Thursdays.
When you tap the Cash Out button in the Grubhub for Drivers app, you’re starting a process to cash out your earnings at that moment. The speed at which those funds transfer into your bank account are determined by the bank you deposit with.
Banks that support Real Time Payments (RTP), which most major banks do, allow Grubhub to transfer your earnings into your bank account within moments.
If your bank does not support Real Time Payments, you’re still eligible to use Grubhub’s Instant Cash Out feature. However, the process may take a few days for these banks. This applies mostly to smaller banks. Please know that these banks may only process cross-platform transfers during normal banking hours. Any cash out initiated outside of normal banking hours may take longer. Any cash outs initiated over the weekend may not appear until the following Monday. This is based on your bank’s transfer processing time and cannot be controlled by Grubhub.
The best way to find out if you’re eligible for same day cash out is to connect with your bank directly and ask if they support Real Time Payments.
Regardless of which bank you use, any funds not cashed out using the Instant Cash Out feature by 11:59pm (CST) on Mondays will be sent through the usual pay process.
For security purposes, Instant Cash Out will not be available for 72 hours after your bank account information has been updated.
A canceled order can be a headache for Grubhub delivery partners. In the event of a canceled order, we do our best to make sure your time and mileage aren’t wasted.
If an order is canceled before you pick up the delivery, you may still get a portion of the original offer based on the estimated time and distance you’ve already committed to the order. Payment eligibility is determined by:
- Your progress toward the merchant at the time of the cancellation.
- Your estimated arrival to pick up the delivery at the time of the cancellation.
If the order is canceled after you pick it up, you’ll receive the full offer amount.
No. You are free to request reassignment, but you will not be paid for these orders.
Delivery Gear
Some Grubhub orders require that the driver pays for the order at the pick-up location using a Driver Card.
The Grubhub Driver Card is a payment card used to complete some orders that require the delivery partner to pay at checkout. Having a Driver Card allows you to complete more types of deliveries resulting in more earnings. To request one, simply go to the Driver Card tab within the Account section of the app. The card doesn’t come with a PIN and should be treated as a credit card. The Driver Card will also be included in your welcome kit so Grubhub can pay for these orders.
Grubhub sends our delivery partners an insulated delivery bag and a Grubhub Driver Card after completing your first delivery, so it’s important to always keep your mailing address updated on the app! We’ll send you an email with the tracking number once it becomes available. Remember, to start delivering after you’ve been approved, you should have your own insulated delivery bag.
Grubhub delivery partners can choose what clothing they wear while delivering. There’s no dress code, but some delivery partners prefer wearing Grubhub branded gear to help merchants easily identify you as a delivery partner and potentially expedite the delivery handoff experience.
Making Deliveries
Auto-Accept, available in select regions, is a setting in the Grubhub for Drivers app that automatically adds delivery offers to your queue, helping you increase your earnings while reducing distractions on the road. You’ll still receive notifications for each new offer and can review the details of the delivery.
To turn Auto-Accept on or off, go to Account > Account Settings > Auto-Accept in the Grubhub for Drivers app. Simply toggle Auto-Accept to ‘On’ to start automatically adding offers to your queue, and toggle to ‘Off’ when needed.
Note: You can still unassign offers even with Auto-Accept turned on. However, unassigning offers will impact your Offer Commitment Rate and could result in fewer delivery opportunities in the future.
Shop + Pay is a Grubhub offer for a convenience store or pharmacy delivery. Drivers shop for everyday essentials like snacks, household items, and cleaning supplies, paying for the order using the Grubhub Driver Card and delivering the items directly to the customer’s door.
With Shop + Pay, you can maximize your schedule for more earnings—toggle on to make a Shop + Pay delivery between restaurant delivery rush hours or when you have some extra time. Plus, there’s no waiting around—you go to the convenience store or mini-mart, pick out the order items, checkout, and go.
The Driver Recognition Program uses delivery partner stats to qualify drivers for one of three levels: Partner, Pro, or Premier. Driver stats consist of Offer Commitment Rate, On-time Arrival at Merchant Rate, and Schedule Commitment Rate.
Higher levels unlock more opportunities like first access to scheduling blocks, larger catering orders where available, and more offers and flexibility, which can help partners earn more.
For more information about Grubhub driver levels, please visit the Recognition & Rewards page.
Driver Recognition levels are updated every week based on partner delivery stats over the last 14 days.
New delivery partners receive a level after completing 20 deliveries and have an active history in all of their stat categories. Learn more about Driver Recognition.
Contact-free delivery lets customers request the order be left at their door, in their lobby, or another place at the delivery location. For more information about contact-free delivery, check out our Help Center.
Yes, when dropping off a contact-free delivery order, take a photo to provide proof of delivery. Grubhub will text the photo to the customer so they’ll see their delivery.
Directions for taking photos:
- Leave the order in a clean and safe location in the requested area.
- Try and take the order photo with something that clearly identifies the drop-off location, such as a house or apt number. Use your phone’s flash if the drop-off location is dark.
- Submit the photo and return to your vehicle.
- Swipe to complete the delivery. You’re all set!
Grubhub is committed to your safety from the time you turn on the Driver app to your last delivery of the day. As such, we offer a number of safety initiatives and partnerships to help protect you if you are in an emergency or facing discrimination, and at every point of your delivery journey.

The safety of our delivery partners is a top priority. It’s important for you to be aware of how to use your e-bike safely. Please review some of the safety tips from NYC DOT and the FDNY below:
- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for charging your e-bike battery. Only use original equipment provided, plug directly into a wall outlet, and do not attempt to modify or repair the battery on your own.
- Never leave an e-bike battery charging unattended overnight. Always store at room temperature in well ventilated areas, and handle your e-bike with care.
- Make sure to know the e-bike laws in your city. Make sure you ride with the flow of traffic, yield to pedestrians, and do not use the sidewalk.
